Westchester Chamber Soloists (WCS) Based just minutes north of New York City, WCS is Westchester County’s premier chamber orchestra and chamber ensemble network, comprised of seasoned professional and advanced avocational musicians dedicated to performing the Concerto literature for piano and for all other solo symphonic instruments, as well as diverse and exciting selections from the chamber music (for all instrumental combinations) and symphonic repertoire.  Our smaller and mid-sized chamber ensembles - including strings, winds, brass and percussion - bring a diverse and exciting repertoire to the concert stage. WCS also welcomes select high school and college-age student performers to join us onstage who have demonstrated exceptional talent and musical promise. WCS is a member of ArtsWestchester and is a New York State-registered 501(c)3 not-for-profit. Contributions to WCS are deductible under Federal and New York State tax law. Copies of WCS’ tax-exemption letter from the IRS are available on request.

A Self-Guided Musical Enterprise

WCS operates as a self-directed and self-governed enterprise, similar to other noteworthy chamber orchestras, its musicians relying on keen musical instinct and intra-group interpretive communication to guide performances. The ensemble also welcomes esteemed guest conductors to lead it in more complex and demanding symphonic and concerto repertoire. WCS’ Concerto soloists are selected from within the group, enabling its musicians to share and hone their skills as both solo performers and ensemble collaborators (for additional information on WCS’ members and collaborators, visit About / Our Musicians). As a cooperative not-for-profit artistic venture, WCS’ governance is designed to meet the essential operating needs of the ensemble, while complying with federal and state requirements for not-for-profit organizations, and its Artistic Directorship works in consultation with an Artistic Advisory Committee comprised of several its member-players to establish plans for repertoire and artistic collaborations for coming seasons. (for additional information on WCS governance and oversight, visit About / Our Leadership).

From our 2020 Debut to the Present…

WCS debuted on 8 March 2020 at Sarah Lawrence College's Reisinger Hall in a program featuring concerto, symphonic and choral masterpieces by Beethoven, Mozart and Copland. And in June 2023, WCS completed its Winter-Spring '23 performance season, comprising 5 public performances.  (explore the Performances / Winter & Spring ‘23 tab, or our Home page, for our complete live video recordings).  Since inception, WCS members and friends have performed over 85 major chamber, concerto and symphonic/choral works in public in Westchester County in addition to recording the complete cycle of Mozart’s Piano Concertos as an “At-Home” concert video series via YouTube during the pandemic. (explore Performances / Recent Seasons and Repertoire for video/audio links to our performances to date).
